Old Boy and current SJC tutor and debating coach, Harry Maher (2012) was recently presented with Sydney University’s prestigious University Medal for being the highest ranked student in the Government and International Relations course. These medals are not presented every year and are extremely highly regarded.

Since graduating as dux from St Joseph’s in 2012, Harry has continued to contribute to the College. He tutors on the Indigenous program, offers homework support and coaches the First debating team. In May he visited Parliament House in Canberra to present his research on the politics of austerity policies in the UK. He will begin work on his PhD in Government and International Relations in July and says he hopes to spend some time studying in Oxford. He will be married in December this year.

The College is very fortunate to have a large network of Old Boys who, like Harry, enthusiastically give their time and knowledge to assist the current students. It is a wonderful part of the Joeys experience and the College thanks Harry and all other Old Boys who contribute in so many different areas of College life.
