Capital Appeal

realising the vision

Realising the Vision...

There are times in our lives when we are offered an opportunity to contribute to something great.

To be an integral part of an historic development.

To leave a legacy that will make a difference for future generations.

This is one of those occasions.

The great St Joseph’s College that we enjoy today was built on the generosity of those who came before us.

Their sacrifice, hard work and vision lit the way for St Joseph’s to become one of Australia’s leading boarding schools for boys, and made it possible for thousands of young men to achieve their dreams.

Now, the time has come for us to accept the torch. It is our turn to light the way for a strong and vibrant future for current and forthcoming generations of Joeys students.

By contributing to the Capital Appeal you will be leaving a lasting legacy that will truly make a difference to thousands of young men and their families.

Our fundraising goal of $10 million is ambitious – but so too are our plans for the future of St Joseph’s College. The money raised in this Capital Appeal will fund the building of the new Technology and Creative Arts Precinct as well as the complete refurbishment of the Year 10 and Year 11 boarding facilities.

It is our responsibility to ensure St Joseph’s College continues to be a leader in boys’ education and care for generations to come. This is a chance to leave a tangible legacy that will not only proudly serve the College community for many years to come, but will also help shape a bright and promising future for many generations of Joeys Boys.

About the Technology and Creative Arts Precinct

site viewOur vision

The new Technology and Creative Arts Precinct will provide boys at St Joseph’s College with learning facilities that are modern and environmentally sustainable.

The precinct will be constructed adjacent to the existing Pius X classroom block, in between the Brother Angelus Science Wing and the Brother Michael Naughtin Theatre (see arial photo right, with new precinct outlined in red). It is designed in line with the principles of effective 21st century education and will encourage the best use of technology and pedagogy, ensuring it is conducive to quality teaching and learning for boys now and well into the future.

The multi-level, contemporary building will allow students from Years 7 to 12 at St Joseph’s to explore and develop their creative talents to their potential. Flexible and dynamic learning areas will be spacious and comfortable and, when combined with specialised lighting, sound, ventilation and climate-control, will form a modern and attractive environment for both students and staff.

New state of the art Technology and Applied Science (TAS) rooms and Visual Art studios will be integrated into the facilities and the building will have lift access to all levels, making it easily serviceable and accessible. Heavily serviced workshop areas on the ground level will have direct access to outdoor spaces, and terraces will provide opportunities for both outdoor learning and socialising.

TAPEnvironmentally Sustainable Design

As St Joseph’s first major infrastructure development for the 21st Century, the College has striven to ensure the new facilities are ecologically sustainable and minimise the long term effect on the environment.

The building has been designed to maximise effective and efficient use of cross ventilation, natural lighting, water recycling and existing structures. Given the College’s significant position in the local community, we consider this development an opportunity to lead by example and demonstrate a clear commitment to minimising both environmental impact and whole of life running costs.

Make a Gift

To fund this exciting development the College will be relying on the generosity of families, Old Boys and friends of the St Joseph’s community. Every gift is vital to the success of the Appeal and gifts in kind are also very welcome. All pledges and gifts to the Capital Appeal will be tax deductible.

The SJC Foundation also offers the opportunity to honour an individual, family business or organisation through the generosity of a designated gift or memorial gift. Major donations may receive special recognition and consideration for naming rights. Donors interested in these opportunities should contact the Chairman of the Capital Appeal, Tony Maurici on email foundation@joeys.org or telephone (02) 9816 0868.
