The SJC community remembers Brother Bede Yates, who passed away on the evening of Thursday 3 March 2010.
During the 37 years he spent at St Joseph’s College, Brother Bede proved himself to be a very great, yet very humble, man. Arriving at the College in 1973, Brother Bede worked quietly, and with much dedication, to give life to the mission and vision of St Marcellin Champagant.
He was a keen gardener, and took great joy in nurturing the plants around the College grounds. However the primary recipients of Brother Bede’s gentle and loving care were always the students, families and staff of St Joseph’s College.
“The College community prays for Brother Bede and together we remember the many wonderful things he has done for the boys at St Joseph’s,” said Headmaster Ross Tarlinton.
“”He was a Champion Brother and man in every respect, and set a fine example of humility and service for us all to follow. He died just as he lived – very peacefully and quietly and with no great fuss.”
“Brother Bede will be dearly missed by all of us at St Joseph’s College. Our thoughts and prayers are especially with the Brothers of our community at this time.”
A funeral Mass for Brother Bede will be held at the College Chapel
on Wednesday 10 March at 10.30am.
Visitor parking will be available on College C.
