The St Joseph’s College Spring Fair 2023 will be held on Sunday12 November, following our whole school Family Mass.

The SJC P&F was established in 1935 to support the College. A special effort to raise funds for the Chapel was made by means of a fete held on 23–24 September 1938. The Governor of NSW, Lord Wakehurst, accompanied by his wife, officially opened the fete – it was a big deal!

This was the first of many P&F Fetes, Family Picnic Days, Field Days and Spring Fairs held at Joeys over the years. Past teacher, Mr Jimmie Gray, remembers:

“I began teaching at Joeys in 1971, and my vaguest memory is that even back then the Fete Day was called the ‘Field Day’. I’ve done a very quick check in the Annuals, and in the 1964 P&F Report it says, ‘The final event for the year was the Family Picnic Day on 15 November. In addition to the stalls, wheel, adults and children were well catered for. The train rides for children were very popular’. Later on, the 1965 P&F Report states: ‘21 November 1965 – Field Day at the College’.”

All these years later, we continue to gather and celebrate the end of the school year with plenty of food, fun and activities for our families – past, present and future.
