Contende: It's a sell out!

The last of the 4,000 copies of Contende – Recipes and Stories from the Heart of St Josephs College sold at a few minutes past 11am at the Spring Fair on Sunday 14 November. Produced by past and present parents and students, Contende took two-and-a-half years to compile, print and sell and was supported by the generosity of many, many people. From those who submitted recipes, the parents who cooked, cleaned and assisted with the photography, to those involved once the container cleared customs and we faced the reality of selling 11 pallets of books – the sense of community and shared pride in what we had created as a reflection of the College and of our families was palpable.

Since its launch on 26 February 2010, Contende has generated a profit of $120,000, which forms part of the Parents and Friends’ Association’s recent donation of $200,000 to the St Joseph’s College Capital Appeal.

Thanks to the following people for their work toward selling that very last copy:

Ian Carlson and Felicity Gladwin: Particular thanks once again to the generosity of Ian Carlson and Felicity Gladwin for their time, talents, patience and interest. Without them stepping forward as a husband and wife team, to travel from Adelaide to photograph and design Contende, and to work closely with people they had never met, this book would not have been the project it became.
