Callum Barry has been named Dux of the Class of 2011, with an ATAR of 99.55.
There is no doubt that Callum's somewhat unusual HSC program, comprising three foreign languages, English and Religion, has certainly been a great success for him. His studied English - Advanced, Studies of Religion II, French Continuers, French Extension, Japanese Beginners, Latin Continuers and Latin Extension.
Callum's results were nothing short of spectacular, scoring in the top band in each of his seven examinations and placing first in the state in Japanese Beginners, with a mark of 100 (read more here).
Headmaster, Mr Ross Tarlinton, said Callum had been an extremely hard working and conscientious student who had earned the title of Dux of St Joseph's College.
"Being named Dux is a tremendous achievement, and one that illustrates Callum's effort, dedication to his studies and determination to do his best. His Higher School Certificate results are excellent, and the College is very proud of him," he said.
"On behalf of the College community I congratulate Callum, as well as his teachers and family, on his well-deserved success."
Callum has been offered a National Merit Scholarship from the Australain National University in Canberra to study Arts / Law for the next four years. He hopes to pursuing a career in foreign affairs. .
