First in NSW in Primary Industries HSC course

Benjamin Romeo - First place in NSW in Primary IndustriesYear 12 student from St Joseph's College, Benjamin Romeo, has topped the state in the Primary Industries HSC course!

Benjamin was one of 119 students who achieved first place in HSC courses this year. He was congratulated by NSW Premier Kristina Keneally and Minister for Education and Training Verity Firth at an award ceremony at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney.

“Each year when HSC results come out, we see a wide range of students from schools right across the state achieving at the highest levels,” Ms Keneally said. “Regardless of where you live or what school you attend, the HSC provides a real opportunity for students from all walks of life to achieve.

“I’d like to congratulate each and every one of these students for their fantastic results.”

Headmaster of St Joseph’s College, Ross Tarlinton, said Benjamin’s achievement was “exceptional.”

“First place in NSW is a brilliant result and the College is thrilled with Benjamin’s achievement. It certainly reflects his hard work and dedication to his studies, as well as the work of the teachers at St Joseph’s.”

“The College’s Primary Industries course is going from strength to strength, with the development of our rural facility out at Colo providing a comprehensive, hands-on approach which allows boys to see the results of theory being put into practice.”

“Benjamin worked remarkably hard throughout his HSC year and I congratulate him on this wonderful achievement. The College community is extremely proud of him.”

Full HSC results are out on Wednesday 16 December 2008.
