With the introduction of the 1:1 Learning Program at St Joseph’s, which sees every student have his own laptop computer, the College’s Mathematics Department has embarked on a number of exciting initiatives in order to embrace the technological world of the 21st century.
The Maths@Joeys blog is now available for the Joeys community to view online. It has been designed to give parents details about their son’s course in Mathematics and to allow them to find out information such as assessment dates and homework advice.
Another digital learning development is the in-class use of mathematical website Mathletics by all students in Years 7 and 10. Mathletics offers countless resources for students, including learning activities, teaching support and competitions. Assistant Head of Mathematics, Miss Veronica Bressi, said the Mathematics Department aims to use Mathletics to enhance students’ understanding by utilising the clear graphs, presentations and simulations embedded in the website.
