St Joseph's College, Hunters Hill, consistently achieves strong results in the School Certificate.

2007 Results

In 2007, the college recorded outstanding School Certificate results.

In all six School Certificate tests in 2007, the college's average test mark was above the state average by up to eight per cent. Particularly strong results were recorded in Mathematics, in which 13 per cent of students gained a Band 6 (90 per cent or better) and Australian Geography, Civics and Citizenship, in which 17 per cent of students scored a Band 6. In Computing Skills 74 per cent of students scored in the top two bands (Bands 5 and 6) with a mark of 80 per cent or better.

The percentage of St Joseph's College students in the top two bands across all School Certificate tests was significantly above the state average. Most notable was Australian Geography, in which 66 per cent of St Joseph’s College students scored Band 5 or 6, compared to 33 per cent across NSW, Australian History where 51 per cent scored Band 5 or 6 compared to 25 per cent across the state, and English – literacy in which 50 per cent scored Band 5 or 6, compared to 33.5 per cent across the state.

A total of 164 Year 10 students from St Joseph's College sat the School Certificate examinations in 2007. In addition, 28 Year 9 students completed the Mathematics course as accelerated students and sat the School Certificate Mathematics exam. This was the first time in the college’s accelerated Mathematics program that Year 9 students were able to sit this test a year ahead of their cohort, and the participating students received excellent results. More than 96 per cent of the accelerated Year 9 students scored in Bands 5 or 6, with the top two of these students placing equal second across the combined Year 9 and Year 10 cohort.
