SJC Swimming Carnival

Posted on November 13, 2020

Even though covid meant it was not possible for all students to attend, the 29th annual SJC Swimming Carnival still had over 100 boys competing in races at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic centre in Homebush. In true Joeys spirit, the competition was fierce but fair, with six College records broken in a day of outstanding performances.
Cooper Portlock (Year 8 had an exceptional meet, setting records in the 14-year 100m freestyle (56.45), 14-year 50m butterfly (28.73) and junior 200m freestyle (2:06.97), while Year 9 student Gordon Durie claimed a new Joeys best in the 14-year 50m backstroke (29.97).
Bryan (Oscar) Jorgensen (Year 9) also swam magnificently, collecting records in the 15-year 50m freestyle (25.53) and 15-year 50m backstroke (31.06).
The College would like to thank all staff who assisted in running the Carnival and making it a success.
