Our extensive co-curricular program encourages individual and collective achievement and the development of well-rounded individuals.

JOEYS Joeys Education Co curricular Debating and public speaking

At Joeys, our public speaking and debating program empowers Joe-Boys to think critically, speak with confidence and lead with integrity – skills that serve them well beyond the College gates.

In 2024, the College Dux, William McCarthy, was selected in the combined GPS Firsts team, the NSW debating team and memorably represented Australia as team captain at the World Schools Debating Championships in Serbia, placing 12th in the world.

Duke of Edinburgh.

Life’s greatest lessons can happen beyond the classroom. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award program – known as the Duke of Ed – supports the holistic development of Joe-Boys, beginning in Year 9 with the Bronze Award and progressing through to Silver and Gold. With a focus on personal excellence and long-term growth, the program reflects the College’s commitment to a vibrant student life. Each stage involves physical recreation, skill-building, voluntary service and an adventurous journey, encouraging students to challenge themselves, serve others and develop the discipline and empathy needed to thrive in all aspects of life.

The Duke of Ed at Joeys is more than a co-curricular pursuit – it’s a path toward self-discovery. Whether learning a new skill, serving the community or completing a challenging expedition, boys strengthen their resilience and sense of purpose. The program complements our Marist ethos, shaping young men of character who are ready to lead with compassion, contribute with confidence and pursue life with intention.
